Podczas rozgrywki wcielamy się w postać bohatera o imieniu Jesse, który wraz ze swoimi towarzyszami wyrusza w niebezpieczną podróż, której celem jest odnalezienie Zakonu i uratowanie świata. Podobnie jak w poprzednich produkcjach studia Telltale Games, podczas przygód nasz protagonista będzie musiał niejednokrotnie podejmować szereg niezwykle trudnych wyborów, które będą miały swoje odbicie w przebiegu fabuły oraz możliwych zakończeniach gry. Całość zrealizowana została w typowej epizodycznej formule i składa się z pięciu odcinków, udostępnianych w regularnych odstępach czasu.
